I am planning to buy an SUV, something l can use for work as a med rep. traveling to different States. l know nothing about cars and l really need to know what is the safest, road-friendly (if ever there is one), not so expensive SUV ($20,000-25,000). something that will not ddisappointmentme when l find myself in the middle of nowhere..

it would be better to get a car with gas prices as high as they are and you want an SUV?? but ok.mmm lets see Honda seems to be the best at everything now a days.

but l recommend a car like a civic maybe you need space and comfort but their are some cars that could meet your expectations.

l think it is better to buy a used car than a new car,because you can save a lot of money on used car.There are many car auctions to purchase a used car.Now a days gas prices are getting high.If you are willing to a new car,SUV is better to purchase.It has many features like Anti-Lock Brakes,6-Cylinder Engine,Power-Assist Steering.So you can go ahead.

Check out the Honda Element. A new one actually starts under $20K & has loads of room & functionality. Plus, u will average about 23 mpg combined city/highway.

As for getting a good deal, go to edmunds.com & play around.
You can look up what others r paying for the vehicle, the true market value of the vehicle, consumer & critic reviews, etc.

Also, if u r near a library, check out the independent testing of the magazine Consumer Reports. Or go to consumerreports.com & u can order an online subscription for $26.

The Honda CR-V is a great small SUV. l suggest u get online & do a lot of research before u narrow down ur choices, however. Edmunds.com & Cars.com r great sources, as is ConsumerReports.org (requires a fee). You will learn about how different makes & models differ in performance, reliability, safety, price, & features. Go to dealers (without ur checkbook) & look at different cars, test drive a few, & ask lots of questions -- even if u plan to buy used later.
