Not if he does not have the means to pay u back in full. If the amount owed is $5000 or less, u can file in Small Claims Court. If it is more, u will need a lawyer to file a civil suit in Superior Court.

If u win in Small Claims, the judge only makes the ruling. If it is in ur favor, u still have to take it upon yourself to collect. Small Claims wo not do that. In Superior, if u get the judgment for you, ur lawyer then can garnish his wages & attach his bank account & anything else he owns. But that costs money to do all that. And a lot of paperwork must be done & approved by the court.

So is it worth it to go after him? If he needed a cosigner, there is a very strong chance he wo not have to means to repay you.

But ur biggest concern should be ur credit. He just ruined yours for the next 7 to 10 years. Nobody will approve u for anything with a repo on ur credit report.
