If you can find a 2004-06 Toyota camry l would go for it. They are excellent cars and will last forever.

However if you are looking for something newer: l would suggest a used Corolla, Civic, or Mazda3. Most of these cars can be purchased new for less than $18,000 but if you want to save some money look for 1 or 2 years used.

Best of luck to you. l would highly suggest sticking with the Japanese market. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, or Mazda.
