Ok, so l was looking on Craigs list at a compact SUV it is a 2003 Acura MDX and has 85,000 miles on it. The lady is selling it for 4,200. She lives in Georgia and said she will ship it for free. However, she has listed it several times in different states. Is there anyway l can protect my money IF l decide to trust this lady. l probably wo not unless l can find a fool proof way of protecting myself.

SCAM. ANY time they offer free shipping or it is way too cheap, it is a scam.

l would not do it unless it was cash on delivery. l would not pay any money until you had the car and already checked the VIN to make sure it was the right one and she actually owns it. Do not sound right to me especially when you said that she has listed it in several states. With it being that new, she should have no problem selling it in her own state, right?

If it sounds like a scam to you.it is a scam. I've learned to follow your gut instinct in a case like that.

l see thousands of ads just like that on Craig is list.

First off the price is too good to be true for that particular vehicle & year. If a price is off by more than 2 thousand dollars from blue book l would consider it a scam automatically. This car is below blue book by several grand & then she also throws in free shipping. Shipping a vehicle can cost any where from several hundred to several thousands of dollars depending on distance & location. l would not even send $10 if l felt or know something is fishy or a scam. l would not buy any car unless l could test drive it in person. Always ask for the VIN number & do a carfax report. If they can not provide a VIN or refuse then l do not deal with them.
